CALAIS MUNICIPAL POLICE, HUNTING THE DELIQUENTS
The city of Calais is where all illegal migrants wanting to cross over to Great Britain congregate. On top of this added burden, the city faces many structural problems. The poverty rate currently stands at 30% and night-time disturbances and other crimes linked to excessive alcohol consumption are on the rise.
Between street brawls, domestic violence, drug trafficking, and traffic offenses, the city authorities have had to reinforce security.
The municipal police and its 28 officers are on the front line. They patrol year-round to keep an eye on the inhabitants. When summer comes, the seaside becomes very busy and the scene of many excesses.
