After the attack on December 17, 1973, at the Roma Fiumicino airport by a Palestinian commando, the Italian government concludes a secret agreement with the PFLP aimed at protecting the country from further attacks. Until today, no written record of this shameful deal can be found.

On August 2, 1980, a new attack at the Bologna railway station is attributed to far-right activists. In fact, it could be an act of Palestinian revenge following the breaking of the agreement when a shipment of missiles destined for the PFLP was blocked by the Italian authorities.

Even today, this extremely sensitive affair has still many shadowy areas.
