A magical look at the French regional heritage
An episode from the series LEGENDS OF FRANCE
The Burgundy region saw the birth of two of the largest monastic movements of the Middle Ages.
From the 10th to the 12th century, Cluny and then Cîteaux were indeed spiritual, intellectual, artistic and even political centres of the first order in Europe. Many majestic buildings illustrate this influence.
Burgundy also owes to the monks some of its most famous vineyards.
