Synopsis

The Grand Duchess Charlotte was an icon to the people of Luxembourg, the mother of the country, a hero during WWII, the symbol of the independence of the Grand Duchy. All at once mother, wife and head of state, she has been is one of the greatest European monarchs of the 20th century.

She was an intimate friend of American President Franklin Roosevelt and was praised by John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Over a 45 years reign, the Grand Duchess Charlotte managed to turn her tiny territory into a financial center where banks took over the steel industry.
